Big Upgrades - virtually a new studio

• Purchased an Amek Big 24-channel large format analog console.  It has automation and recall akin to the SSL 4000 series, but the recall has the voice of the legendary Rupert Neve guiding the way.  That's because Mr. Neve had a hand in the development of this console.  I'm planning to fully rebuild it with a ton of upgrades and modifications that will take it to the quality of an SSL, or maybe a little beyond.  Driving out to Idaho later this month to pick it up.  It's "Big".   
• Built a new 8'x8' floating floor/drum riser in the "chamber" (entry corridor).  That room makes drums sound huge, so it made sense to build a proper drum riser there.  I also bought an 8-channel audio snake to easily rout mics to that room.  I installed a video camera on the ceiling - directed to the stage and routed to the control room big screen TV for visual reference.   
• Installed a massive KRK 12S powered subwoofer in the control room.  After running acoustic modeling of the control room with a measurement mic and software I realized the nearfield speakers were not producing anything below 38Hz.  This subwoofer brings the frequency down to 29Hz, which was immediately noticeable.  
• There's now a 1/4" Sony reel-to-reel stereo tape recorder hooked up in the control room, which can be used for mixdown, mastering, live-to-tape, or transfers.  
  
• A pile of the freshest LBA Trinity channel strips have been installed in the control room to facilitate higher quality recordings with more tonal versatility. 
  
• There's a bunch of new guitar pedals, another guitar amp, and loads more fun stuff - like photo/video capability.
